Univ.-Prof. Dr. Michael Maskos

Prof. Dr. Michael Maskos took over the scientific management of IMM on September 1st, 2011.

Michael Maskos studied Chemistry at the Philipps-Universität Marburg and wrote his doctoral thesis there at the Institute for Polymers. Afterwards, he changed to a position as scientific assistant at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz. Following a one year period as visiting scientist at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, he returned to Mainz as research assistant and completed his habilitation in physical chemistry in 2003. He then was working as assistant professor in Mainz until he left in 2009 to head the Division Durability of Polymers at BAM Federal Institute of Materials Research and Testing in Berlin.

In 2011 he accepted a professorship at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz in the field of Chemical Process Engineering / Microfluidics. Since that time he is also CEO of the Institut für Mikrotechnik Mainz GmbH (IMM). His current research interests focus on the fields of applied micro process engineering and polymeric nano materials.
