Development of a forecast analysis tool for hazard defence in critical infrastructures
Millions of people are used to commute by subway daily. Highly crowded areas like subway stations, particularly in rush hours, are ideal targets for terrorist attacks. The goal of the research project is the development of a tool that allows to determine the existing and developing contamination of the air by volatile hazardous agents in subway systems. Based on the knowledge of the time-dependent propagation of the agents in the subway system and in the tunnels, passengers, rescue services, and operators of the public transportation can be provided in detail and continuously with purpose and goal-directed instructions. Furthermore, all action forces are able to make lifesaving decisions on reliable information. The consortium consists of seven partners from research and industry. Two end user are associated.
The goal of the subproject of IMM is the development of a modular analysis platform for detection of volatile compounds and its integration into the forecast system. The universal applicability of the concept to be developed can provide important contributions to the design of interfaces in marketable microstructure based analysis systems.
