ICEFUEL

Increase of efficiency of renewable energy and reduction of CO2 emissions

The BMBF joint project icefuel® is dealing with the "Increase of efficiency of renewable energy within energy diversification and reduction of CO2 emissions by a new energy infrastructure based on microsystem technology.

Icefuel® is a system for hybrid transport of cryogenic fuels (LPG or liquid hydrogen), electricity and data within a novel thermally super-insulated cable ("Umbilical"). The high energy densities at the required very low cross section areas and volume flows suggest using microsystems as the system components and for the installation of a decentralized energy infrastructure system.
